Our new Access for All path is named in memory of the late Barrie Tinker, Bradford Council's principal parks and landscape manager and a true friend of Judy Woods.
The new gates which give access to wheelchairs and motorised scooters have also been installed.
Disabled Access to the trail is via Ullswater Drive off Meadway, Woodside

Unfortunately, the Friends of Judy Woods was unsuccessful with its bid to the
Peoples Millions, but thank you to all the individuals and groups who have
supported our TV appearance! We are now looking at a number of ways to undertake
this project, so hopefully we will improve the paths in Judy Woods!
We lost out to Heeley City Farm, but their training arm - Sheffield Environmental and
Horticultural Training (SEHT) contacted us after the competition and offered to
come over with a team of their NVQ students and undertake some path repair. This
three day task took place at the end of February and reinstated the drainage and
path before and over Judy Bridge. The students did a fantastic job and it was a
great partnership project involving SEHT, FoJW, Royds and the Council.

The Judy Woods Project was
jointly funded by the Royds Community Association and a grant from the Local
Heritage Initiative. It is a partnership between Royds, other groups and
local people.
The Local Heritage Initiative (LHI. Please see 'Links' page) is a national grant scheme that helps local groups to investigate,
explain and care for their local landscape, landmarks, traditions and
culture. The grant is provided by the Heritage Lottery Fund, but the scheme
is a partnership, administered by the Countryside Agency with additional
funding from the Nationwide Building Society.
It funded the following items:
|
- A wheelchair accessible
path from the Station Road entrance (see right)
- A
programme of environmental education activities
- A
collection of local history and folklore, especially from local people
- A
Family Fun Day in 2001
- A
booklet about the woods
- A
leaflet about the woods, which also includes the current events programme
-
Fixed signs in the woods, which highlight features of interest, for example, a bell
pit
