Bat Walk

Fungi Foray:
Saturday 4th October: 2.00pm
Please meet our
local experts, Joan Dobson and Veronica Youngson, at the Meadway entrance on
Woodside for an enjoyable and informative walk in the woods.
Seasons Greetings:
Saturday 27th December: 1.00pm
Please meet Mary Twentyman and Peter Walker at the Pear Tree Inn in Norwood Green for a short walk followed by entertainment.
Suggested
donation: £1 per adult; 50p per child, which will go towards the work of the
Friends of Judy Woods, for example, putting on events!
Norwood Green entrance Infrequent bus service. See instruction for Wyke and follow Station Road round to Norwood Green
By Car
Station Road Wyke
entrances. Follow the A641 (Huddersfield Road) to Wyke. Turn down Station
Road, opposite Green Lane.
Meadway, Woodside entrance. Follow the A6036 (Halifax Road) and turn into Fenwick Drive opposite Tesco’s supermarket. Turn right at the T junction by the fields onto Meadway. Entrance is just before the bungalows on the left.
Norwood Green entrance. Park on Village Street in Norwood Green. Sowden Lane is on the corner just past the Old White Beare.
For all outdoor events, please wear appropriate outdoor clothing & footwear.

Judy Woods is famous for its fine display of bluebells - the best time of year to see them is at the start of May.

Woodland Celebration Day:
Saturday 12th July
This was cancelled due to a clash of dates. FoJW attended Harold Park Gala instead.
Summer Ramble (to Wynteredge & return):
Wednesday 2nd July: 10.30am
A fine day in the middle of some showery weather made for a splendid ramble through the fields to the old house of Wynteredge near Coley.

Once again our expert Joan Dobson helped with identification of flowers large and small.
Spring Ramble (to Kester Hole & return):

lovely sunny day for our walk to
the Kester Hole waterfall.
Most people had no idea there
was such a delightful place.
Located in the woods just below
Berry Bottoms and Dean House Farm,
on the path leading into Sun Wood, Shelf.
Meet Judy North Walk
Monday 5th May: 2.00pm
Look who we met at her old haunt - Judy North herself. She even had refreshments ready for us.
Geology Walk
Sunday 20th April: 2.00pm
Led by Alison Quarterman and Pat Taylor. Despite the bad weather 12 hardy souls turned up.

Seasons Greetings
Saturday 29th December : 1.00 - 3.00 pm
Mary Twentyman led about seventy brave souls through horrendous weather on a walk in the woods. They then returned for refreshments at the Pear Tree Inn and for the annual performance from the Bradshaw Mummers.

Fungi Foray
Saturday 6th October: 2.00 - 4.00 pm
Seventeen people joined local expert, Joan Dobson, for this walk in the woods. A very enjoyable and knowledgeable walk was had by all.

The Friends of Judy Woods AGM
Tuesday 18th Sept: 7.30 — 9.00pm
Thanks to all the members (about forty) who came along to the AGM. The committee gained three new members, which is fantastic news. Mary Twentyman finished of the evening with another of her entertaining and interesting shows - this time concerning the old postcards of the woods.
Woodland Ramble
Wednesday 5th September: 10am — 12pm:
Geoff & Mary Twentyman led a small group on an adventurous and enjoyable walk through the woods.
Bats!
Tuesday 4th September: 7.00 — 9.00 pm:
Ian Butterfield (Forest of Bradford and West Yorkshire Bat Group) led a group of forty on a walk through the woods, where it's bat population put on one of the best displays that our bat walks have seen. Photos to follow.
Woodland Tales
Wednesday 25th July: 2.00pm:
The Treehouse Storytellers led a lovely walk in the woods - tales were told and story sticks were made. More info and pics to follow.
A Day at the Beech with the Green Man
Saturday 21st July: 1 — 3.30 pm
The weather was wet and so not many people (about 70) joined us for this event which had entertainment from a Green Man, face painting, refreshments, stalls and more to enjoy. Thanks to those that did make it out into the woods!

Woodland Ramble
Wednesday 4th July: 10am — 12pm:
Eight people joined Brian Ellison on this walk in the woods, which unfortunately due to the poor weather was cut short.
Wildflowers
Tuesday 22nd May: 6.30 — 8.30 pm
Joan Dobson led a group of about twenty people on this enjoyable and informative walk in the woods looking at ferns, flowers and grasses.

Wednesday 2nd May: 10am - 12pm:
Peter Walker led this walk, which started from the Station Road entrance. Eight people joined Peter (see pic below) for a lovely walk admiring the wealth of wildlife in the woods, including fine displays of bluebells and other wild flowers.
